Hartley House @ Home was established in 2007, by experienced childcare professional, Susan Hartley-Raven, as an additional service to the three nursery schools she owns.
We offer parents a range of flexible childcare solutions to address the childcare issues faced by the modern family - all at an affordable price and without the usual expensive registration fees. All our sitters are CRB checked, fully referenced and personally interviewed before starting work, giving parents the peace of mind that they will always be provided with an experienced sitter who meets our high standards.
The service is completely flexible, offering parents childcare when they need it - from just a couple of hours now and again to regular weekly sittings, Hartley House @ Home can provide an experienced sitter. We also cater for any functions or events where childcare may be needed, for example, weddings, childrens parties, overnight stays and hotel bookings for anyone visiting the area.
As well as babysitters we can provide mother's helps, for when you need that extra pair of hands to help out around the house. Booking is very straightforward - either call 01962 860036 or send an email to home@hartley-house.co.uk.
Babysitting
Hartley House @ Home currently has around 50 experienced sitters, all providing families in the Winchester area with high quality care. Whether you need someone to collect the children from school, give you a hand with a children's party or you simply fancy a night out, we are happy to hear from you.
All our babysitters are CRB (police) checked, fully referenced and interviewed personally by us prior to starting work.
Sitters are available whenever you need them - daytime, evening, weekends or even overnight, we will have someone to fit your requirements.
Making a booking is very straightforward - simply call 01962 860036 or email home@hartley-house.co.uk with your requirements and we will contact our network of sitters to see who is available to fulfil your booking.
Once the booking is confirmed and we have found you a sitter, you don't need to worry about anything else. Perhaps invite the sitter to come early on their first meeting so that you can chat with them and see how they interact with your children. The sitter will arrive at your specified time and at the end of the booking will ask you to sign a timesheet to confirm the hours worked. We invoice clients on a monthly basis, so no need to worry about finding cash to give the sitter at the booking.
Mother's Helps
Hartley House @ Home can provide Mother's Helps for families who are looking for another pair of hands around the house, to help with childcare and housework.
A Mother's Help will generally work alongside a parent at home, so may well work for parents who work from home or who work part-time and want housework and childcare combined. We can also provide mother's helps who are happy to have sole charge care of children when required. They would expect to assist with the children and generally help around the house, for example, vacuuming, dusting, preparing meals, light washing, ironing and so on.
All our Mother's Helps are CRB (police) checked, fully referenced and interviewed personally by us prior to starting work. They are available whenever you need them - and you can book someone on a regular basis or as a one off when you really need the help - we will have someone to fit your requirements and all without the usual expensive registration fees.

(Nursery) Supply Cover
With increasing numbers of children now in nursery or pre-schools, it is important that supply cover is readily available when the situation arises.
Hartley House @ Home can supply staff to nurseries and pre-schools, to cover one off absences such as sickness, holidays or if you should need an interim staff member during staff shortages.
Costs
Hartley House @ Home does NOT charge any registration fee for its services, unlike many other agencies and there is no contract commitment - just book the help when you need it!
Babysitting
£9.95 per hour (before 11 pm) rising to £11.50 per hour after 11 pm.
This is the cost for up to 3 children. Any additional child will cost a further 50p per hour.
Overnight rates by negotiation.
Minimum booking time is 2 hours
Mother's Helps
£14.00 per hour
Minimum booking time is 2 hours
Nursery Supply Cover
£10.50 per hour
Minimum booking time is 3 hours
We do not charge VAT on any of the above costs

FAQ's
Can I have the same sitter every time?
We will do our best to give you the same sitter every time, however, this may not always be possible. We recommend that your family gets to know two or three different sitters, so between them they can cover all your requirements, ensuring that your children have the continuity of care from regular sitters.
Can I meet the sitter beforehand?
We suggest that on the first booking you invite the sitter to your home a bit earlier than needed so you can introduce them to your children, show them around and see the interaction between the sitter and the children. This way you can leave your children with total peace of mind.
Does the sitter have to come to my home?
No - if you require a sitter at a special event, such as a wedding or family party, our sitters are totally flexible and can travel with you to different locations and work wherever you require them.
