Play
Through
play, we aim to provide opportunities for all children to express
themselves openly and subsequently develop:-
- Cognitively
- Physically
- including gross and fine motor skills
- Socially
and culturally
- Creatively
Play
is most effective when it has been freely chosen by the child her
/ himself and she / he is then intrinsically motivated from within.
Group play is also vital for developing the child's social skills.
We aim to provide the children with opportunities to engage in all
types of play within a safe and inspiring environment. We recognise
that in order for children to develop their full potential, they
need to be able to play freely and experiment with a wide variety
of materials appropriate to their age, level of development and
ability.
In
order to fulfil the above we:-
- Offer
opportunities for the children to participate individually or
as part of a group.
- Provide
periods of free and structured play as appropriate.
- Give
the children ample opportunity to make their own choices, thus
encouraging the development of their independence and individuality.
- Discourage
the use of stereotypical roles and our materials reflect the diversity
of our multi-racial and multi-cultural society
